took management
of Westgate Shopping City
When it was built nearly nine years ago, Westgate shopping center at the western entrance to Zaprešić in Zagreb was the second largest in Europe. The largest was then in one of the largest European cities – Moscow, and in the meantime extended London’s West Field, which became the largest shopping center on the continent. Today Westgate is the third with the largest surface in Europe, and it has about 80 percent of space rented out. It is no secret that in recent years it had management problems, but a few months ago there has been a change in the ownership and management structure. The Austrian investment firm and the largest individual co-owner of Focus Invest GmbH in March became the sole owner of the company by taking over shares from the Plus City Group from Linz, which has so far managed the center.
The new Zagreb City Center owner, owner of Westgate Shopping City, became an architect Otto Barić, who handed the management over to the experienced Managing Director Denis Čupić, the director and owner of F.O. / Development and F.O. / Asset, who at one time led the project and managed the financing concept of building that grand building and withdrew shortly after the opening. It is now back with ambitious plans and a clear goal for Westgate to make better use of its potentials.
