Hotels and a wedding resort are coming to the zone around Westgate

When he took over the leading position of the largest shopping mall in Croatia, Westgate, manager Denis Čupić announced a series of radical changes. Now, a year later, we decided to visit this already forgotten center and find out if something had really changed.

– The marketing story was missed from the start. Instead of turning to the immediate vicinity, that is, the Krapinsko-Zagorska County and western Zagreb, the former management targeted the city’s east. Although now, after eight years of bad business, it is difficult to return, I believe that with a complete change of policy and the introduction of some new brands, we will succeed. A good indicator of our work is the constant growth of visitors at a rate of 15 percent – says Čupić.

With a changed policy and focus of the center, new leadership has brought some new brands to the market in a year. Thus, in the interior design sector, Prima COCO maison, Bima, TEDi hawe opened their doors, as well as the renowned Möbel Land, which together will have 20,000 square meters of sales space.

Along with them are some new fashion names like Alma Ras, Idexea, ShoeSelection, but also AB Bookshop and Helen Doron Foreign Language School and Martial Arts Club. There is alsou 480,000 square feet of construction land. In that area, in cooperation with the partners, the new management plans to build two to three hotels of 100 to 120 rooms and an outdoor wedding resort.

– We have already sold one parcel of land and the construction will bee starting soon, and we are still in negotiations with two hotel chains. We plan to open additional home improvement stores in the next year, which will include several more interior decoration stores with two ceramic and lighting halls. We expect the completion of a new hub by the middle of next year, which will allow us to enter the highway directly – Čupić concludes.
